From April 25-28th, I took a group of Missionary Flights’ volunteers and staff into Haiti to fellowship with some of the affiliated ministries that we serve. I also had the unique opportunity to take my son, Ethan, along. For many on the trip, it was their first time in the country of Haiti. For all, it was an unforgettable opportunity to understand the impact that we make through our service. As I heard the stories of those different missionaries we had the opportunity to meet, a common theme of thanksgiving was expressed. I’d like to echo that same appreciation to those of you who support me. It is because of you that I am able to remain focused as a pilot and mechanic. It is because of you that I am able to spend a few days in Haiti shuttling missionaries during evacuations. It is because of you that I get to do what the Lord has called me to do. I praise the Lord for you.

Greetings from Taiwan! We started with a two-week trip through Taiwan for a board meeting and then went on to Indonesia. While we have seven speaking sessions, our other primary purpose is to connect with leaders here and see if God may be leading us to serve in other ways. By God’s grace, in terms of future partnerships, this trip has exceeded what we knew to pray for. We have been invited to share with two groups, their churches and their church leaders. Another church where we preached arranged for a five-hour training for 50 of their pastoral team from their 16 sister churches. We met a brother who is responsible for curriculum in one of the leading Indonesian seminaries, has a leadership role amongst the leaders in Indonesia and whose focus is ministering to the younger generation, including the millennials. He is considering cancelling a planning meeting for the “National Consultation of the Next Generation” and having the six pastor leaders come to our sessions instead. We are not sure that will happen. Lord willing, we will remain in contact and dialogue for possible future partnership. Thank you for your prayers. Please pray for long-term fruit from these meetings.

We are praising God for His great provision! Because of the help we received from the RAP Center for the Advancement of Non-Profits, we opened a new web site in May. Please visit it at LivingWaterForKenya.com. There you will find pictures and videos showing the wonderful things, because of your support, that God is doing in Kenya to bless both children and adults.
In March, Living Water for Kenya opened a Literacy and Bible Study Program for adults who have never been able to go to school. We now have 75 adults learning to read and write, as well as learning beginning Math and Bible. Eight students who needed glasses were provided reading glasses. All this was made possible by generous donors who want to see lives changed. The cost for this Literacy and Bible Study Program for the year is $3,000. The cost per student is only $40 per year. It is amazing what $40 can do! Because of a generous donation of $2,000, the children at Blessed to Bless Pre-school and the Blessed to Bless Academy (first through eighth grade) have a playground with eight swings, a slide and a merry-go-round.
We have been renting a building for Mercy Pre-School that serves 90 children. With the donations from the ladies of Indian Ridge Bible Study and one other donor, we have been able to buy the three-room building and the land around it. Our greatest need for this school is new toilets. The cost of a brick and concrete toilet structure will be $800. We cannot thank you enough for your prayers and donations that bring hope and a future to so many.

One of our team priorities this year is to help “radically increase the workforce” of laborers for God’s kingdom all around the world - both full-time missionaries and trained partners and volunteers who serve God wherever they live and work. One exciting story recently came through from our Francophone team who created a three-day mobilization training for volunteers. They wrote a curriculum and launched a prayer and fasting emphasis from October to January. For the first training in Togo (together with Benin) they prayed for 300 participants but were overjoyed when 700 volunteers came seeking to build the Kingdom of God in their spheres of influence. Just six weeks later, one of those 700 volunteers in Benin is leading a newly planted church with 51 new members. Thank you for your prayers and continued financial support!

Dave writes, “December and January have been a busy time with building the church sanctuary. The congregation has decided to construct a smaller building for now and will add on in the future. It is so nice to have an enclosed building once again! Most of the work days have been in the rain and so we had to be creative to keep from getting soaked. The roof is complete and with no leaks! We will continue enclosing the building and then work will start on fixing the kitchen area. We are so thankful for God’s provision every step of the way.”

We are so proud of the work our team has done for the Kingdom of God over the course of the fall semester. It was incredible to witness and celebrate 21 fraternity and sorority students give their hearts and lives to Jesus in the Orange County area of Greek Ministry this Fall! It is a great joy to witness young leaders take risks for Jesus and watch God meet them in the midst of their doubts. Please join us in celebrating the work God has done and continues to do in the lives of these students. Personal Update - Kelsey is back from seven weeks of maternity leave which she enjoyed tremendously. Rylee is growing and her little personality continues to blossom. Travis wrapped up his first quarter of seminary and was able to bring home A’s in both of his classes.

Demonstrating Jesus’ love to community, we sponsored a mobile dental clinic at the local elementary school. Through caring for a camp student, the Lord let us know Dr. Edna, a dentist who loves Jesus. She put together a team of seven Tanzania professionals. Together they provided a day of free dental care and offered medical advice for 102 patients. Abi (our daughter) assisted too, and had first-hand experience in seeing what kinds of care is available in Tanzania, as well as the limitations in a rural setting.

Our Lord really has been amazingly kind to us in terms of developing our personal growth in Him, intellectual transformation and deep local biblical community at our church. He is transforming our kingdom perspectives and gave us humbling fruitfulness and open doors in our just completed trip to Singapore/Malaysia. That trip is the first time in 20 years that we have been able to travel together overseas and actually both speak. Our Ph.D. seminary classes for both of us, on top of all the above, have been wonderful beyond expectations. We have already been ministering from what we have processed in the classes. Everyday is very energizing! In terms of prayer requests, probably the single commodity we need most is time. We are not burning out or exhausted by any means but we are definitely very stretched in our time demands with ministries from so many angles. Thank you for your continued support.

As we look around our world, we see more need than ever before for Jesus’ disciples and Jesus’ followers to “step up” and “lean in” to places of influence - home, work, church, community - with His character, love, grace, power and hope. We count it a great privilege to be a part of that work...because of your partnership! We are in the middle of our pre-event New global Leader’s Orientation (NGLO). We are facilitating an on-line cohort experience for our leaders who are taking new global-level roles. Please pray that we can help prepare these leaders well to influence and lead their part of the world for God’s glory.

Christian writes, “This summer has been crazy and fun! We kicked off our summer by going to camp for a week, on the beach. The kids’ favorite moments were playing volleyball, basketball, roasting marshmallows and hotdogs. My favorite moment was when one of my boys made the decision to get baptized. I have never been so proud and excited for him. God has been working on his heart and I have seen him grow so much this year.
“In our community of children’s homes that we like to connect with, there are three; Mercy House, Children’s Garden and Kid’s Home. There was this great idea that we should hold a “Sports Fest,” combining all our homes. We brought everyone together and spent the day fellowshipping, playing basketball and eating dinner as one big family! Thank you for continuing to support me and please continue to pray for all of the boys. “
