The orphanage is located in western Kenya and houses over 200 orphans. There is a baby facility for the smallest children and large facilities for older children. The AOO college fund “Mama Joan Scholarship Fund,” which is available for older children, has helped over 95 orphans. These have graduated and been equipped by trade school and college courses to aid them in acquiring jobs. With up to 75% unemployment for young people in the Kakamega region of Kenya, getting a college education can bring future financial security for them and their families. Trade school degrees can cost around $450 while a full year at a college for tuition, room and board can be around $1,200.
I thank all of you in the church who sponsor a child and give them hope and new opportunities in life by supplying a monthly stipend for each one’s living expenses. If you would be interested in supporting an orphan, you may do so by contacting our church office.
