I. Christlike goals!

  1. Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose (Philippians 2:1-2).
  2. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come (1 Corinthians 5:17).

II. Christlike humility!

  1. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:3-11)
  2. For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Galatians 5:13-14).

III. Christlike obedience!

  1. So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:12-13).
  2. Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:1-2).
  3. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).
  4. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father (Colossians 3:17).

Life group flow and discussion questions

"All In - How To Live Like Jesus"

An important Guideline of Life Groups: Discuss in your Life Group the importance of setting Christlike goals for this new year.

Getting Started:

  1. What are some Christ centered goals you can set as we reset for the new year?
  2. Discuss how best to keep each other accountable with these new goals?

Discussing Truths:

  1. How would you define humility?
  2. How can you recognize humility in yourself?
  3. Are you letting God work through you in obedience or are you trying to be obedient in your own power?
  4. If you are working towards obedience in your own power how can you learn to let Christ live through you?

Now What? Application:

  1. Take some time and write out some Christlike goals for the new year below. I encourage you to cut this part out and stick it in your bible or somewhere you will see it.
