Topics: life's journey, help from the creator
I. Look to our creator for help!
* The Lord who created heaven and earth will be our help!
- I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1, 2).
- To You I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens! (Psalm 123:1).
II. Look to our watchman for help!
* The Lord who works the night shift will be our help!
- He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:3, 4).
- Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable (Isaiah 40:28).
III. Look to our covering for help!
* The Lord who knows the dangers of life will be our help!
- The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night (Psalm 121:5, 6).
- He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day (Psalm 91:4, 5).
IV. Look to our protector for help!
* The Lord who protects us from evil will be our help!
- The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever (Psalm 121:7, 8).
- But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

Life group flow and discussion questions
Look at the Lord for help
An important Guideline of Life Groups: Life Groups are a key resource for spiritual accountability. Discuss how we all need to look to the Lord when we need help. Keeping the correct focus is critical to victorious living (Colossians 3:1-4).
Getting Started:
- To whom do you normally turn for help during life's challenges?
- Why is it vital to seek the Lord first and not as a last resort (Matthew 6:33)? How has the Lord helped you when you felt scared in life's journey?
Discussing Truths:
- Mountains are biblical places of both divine encounters (Mt. Sinai, Mt. of Trans-figuration, Mt. Calvary), and also called "high places" of false worship, idolatry and menacing robbers. What is the Psalmist referencing in Psalm 121:1, 2?
- When have you looked in the wrong places or to the wrong people for help? How did that work out?
- How does the truth that our Lord is our Creator, our Watchman, our Covering and our Protector give you hope and confidence for the future?
- What have you learned from God's past faithfulness to help you in life?
- Do you agree with the saying: "Look around and be distressed, look within and be depressed, but look to the Lord and you'll be blessed?"
- What does fixing our mind on Jesus accomplish (Colossians 3:1-4) in living a triumphant life?
Now What? Application:
- As a pilgrim on life's journey, how will you persevere through the spiritual battle all the way to the finish line (2 Timothy 4:7, 8)?
- What are some specific needs that you need to trust the Lord to help you with? Ask, Seek, Knock (Matthew 7:7-11)!
